So, the other day I was at my local dealer and they had a Windscreen that fit the Memphis Shades brackets that the nfieldgear screens use, but at a cost of only $90 for screen and bracket.  I believe it is also a bit larger than the nfieldgear screens as well.  I have not had a chance to test it long distance yet, but it seems like it should work well.

Looks good and you got it for a good price IMO.

I have the Nfieldgear Shades windshield and I used it on the 200+ mile (each way) trips up to Flagstaff.
I was surprised it didn't reduce my fuel economy.  Admittedly the ride was pretty much non-stop except for fuel and a couple of smoke breaks but I ended up getting better than 75 mpg.  Actually riding from Flagstaff to Payson which is about 100 miles and drops about 3000 feet in elevation I got almost 100 mpg with the windshield mounted.

For my in-town riding I usually have the windsheild and its support rods removed.
I leave the bar attachments in place so remounting the windshield is basically just a matter of plugging it in. :)

I too plan to leave it off around town, but I wanted something for the longer rides. 
That there is some fantastic millage, so far mine has been between 65 and 71mpg with out the screen.

I'm jealous of the mileage you guys get.  I get about 47-48 mpg, but then I also have an Inder sidecar attached.   ::)

That is a handsome windscreen. I will be getting one for my G5. Because I think it will help on longer rides. But I know that just having a windshield and saddle bags won't make my Bullet G5 UCE into a tourer. Yet, I think I will be able to do rides from Dallas to Austin, Houston, etc.

Sure it will make your Bullet a tourer.  That is, if your idea of touring is seeing the countryside and not just getting somewhere as fast as possible.

Just avoid the big superslab interstate highways and ride the slower less traveled secondary highways.  The scenes are better, the traffic is slower and usually there is less of it.
The "big rigs" want to deliver their loads as fast as possible so they usually stick to the superslabs as do all of the cage drivers who's only thoughts are getting to where they are going as fast as possible.

The secondary highways usually go thru a bunch of interesting little towns that used to be important stops when these highways were the only way to get from one place to another so they often have service stations and small restaurants and they welcome visitors.
Lots more fun and interesting than the big truck stops along the superslabs. :)

Thats what I am planning on doing. I just need to find out the alternative routes from Dallas to Austin. Clearly not 35!

Recently on 1200 mile round trip through country side I had that uncontroollable grin... Couldn't shake it.

About the best alternative from the DFW area to Austin is to go slightly west to 281.  Take 281 down.  There are a few off-shoots from 281 at different stages for cutting back over to Austin.  Option 1: catch 183 southeast from Lampasas to NW Austin (caution: 183 becomes a toll - 183A - at Leander/Cedar Park, 183 itself becomes a business road through those towns.).  Option 2: catch 29 from Burnet east to 183 and down.  Option 3: catch either 1431 or 71 from Marble Falls (1431 comes into Cedar Park on NW side of Austin, 71 comes into south Austin).  Option 4: catch 290 in Johnson City into south Austin.
