Hi Guys...
Not sure if im paranoid or not... but here goes.
Yesterday i went for a lengthy ride. we covered around 250km over the day. Some of it was highway, some twisty mountain roads etc (some even in the rain hehe).

Anyway this morning i can hear a ticking noise coming from the engine. it seems to stop when there is load on the engine, but is there when im just cruising along or when the engine is idling.
I never really noticed the ticking before...

what do you think?

How many miles?  Did you check the oil?

These engines change the noises they make as they break in.  They're all noisy in one way or another and all unique.  If you're worried spin by the dealer and ask him to take a listen.  I had the asme concerns 2000 miles ago.  Checked with the dealer, said it was fine, here I am 2000 miles later.

Mine does it too just like you've described. If it blows up I'll report back but until then it is running 200+ miles a week and is currently doing it well despite its unique noises. ;)

Does it sound like this (FF to about halfway through):

You can hear it coming and going in that video. I posted this before and people seem to think its normal... I never heard it until recently too and I have about 1300 miles now. Otherwise the bike is really strong and runs great - good power, holds idle, etc.

if it's time for an oil change by miles or calendar, very well
could be that. check ur service records and be sure to
use a top shelf oil.

Does yours come and go like that? As for volume... its loud enough ticking that I thought a valve was hitting or something. It sounds really bad, but people assure me that some of the enfields are really noisy - noisier than mine! I'm still going to have the dealer look at it when I bring it in next.

BTW, mine does not tick after the engine is warm.. does yours? I only really notice it on cold mornings after starting.

As for oil, I've already changed it twice.

mine isnt that noticeable when the engine is under load.... apart from that it was still apparent when i got to work this morning, so it wasnt a temp thing.

oil was changed about 1000km ago
