and now the bike won't start.  actually just stopped starting one day so was goin' thru everything this morn (spark, timing, fuel, valves) & that's when i found this little pice of a gasket on the intake side.  its tiny (that's a main jet about in picture to give you perspective).  its green & stamped.  the only #'s i could make out were:
12.5/15.9-10p G(maybe 6?)OP

any ideas?

thanks in advance

Part of a valve guide seal?

No actually I believe that is a carb jet.  I assume from a pwk or similiar series carb.  Must have been some bad voodoo to get it from inside the carb all the way to there.  Weird....

I think the jet is just there for scale. It's the green crescent thing with the serial numbers. Weird, where the hell is that in an Iron bullet? Whatever it is, it doesn't look like it would have much to do with the motor quitting. I don't believe Irons have a plastic part like that . Or any plastic engine parts at all for that matter.

DOH, should have re-read it again.  Pays to be almost awake.  Looks plastic to me.  Maybe part of the oil pump drive spindle.  Unless someone used nylon washers instead of copper on the supply tube.

Yeah the jet is just for scale.

I'm guessing valve guide seal falling down thru push rod tube but how/why would that happen?

Feels rubbery & not hard plastic if that helps. Has an angle to it's inside curve.

Further investigation from above is needed. Gotta pull covers & intake rocker box.

Stay tuned!

looks like part of an oil seal.
On the eighth day God created the C5, and it was better looking than anything on the planet.

That looks like a valve seal partical.Mite want to check the valve springs,if one has broken it mite shear off a piece of seal. You can test the pumps without running, take out plug and kick as fast as you can without being ridiculous, just steady.Oil comes out in the rocker area in about 10 kicks or less on Jolly, have the H.O. pumps, mite take longer with stock pumps.Could just be result of pitiful install.Lets' hope for that.

Since the bike won't start, do you still have good compression?
Hopefully that's not a piece of head gasket where it goes around the push rods.
My 2ยข YMMV

I don't think the stock valves come with seals. You can buy aftermarket ones from our hosts.

Yeah,I do not remember valve seals on mine one way or another. My excuse for this is perfect-65 yrs old.But the particle looks like a seal bit.It is just speculation, could be something unrelated that got in there at the factory, even.

Hmmmm.  I guess anyhing is possible but i Doubt it's a factory leftover as I had the head & barrel replaced about a year ago. Seems like it's somehow related to that. Unfortunately the shop that did the work is in Vegas & I'm in la!  I think I'm just gonna have to open the top & see what's going on there.

Thanks for everybodys input!

update:
I checked w the guys that do the head mods for cmw & they confirmed what the last poster said, the rubber is indeed part of their valve guide seal. And indeed now I wonder what else is floating around in there. My knee is recovering from surgery but not enough yet to tinker in garage yet so what lies below the valve caps will remain a mystery for now.

My question now is why/how did this happen & what can be done to prevent a repeat?!

Thanks everybody for your input
