When I bought my C5, I discovered that the rear wheel was completely off kilter and that the little alignment snails were at notch 3 and 10 or 12, and that the brake anchor nut was completely loose. After transient irritation at getting a bike that had apparently been correctly "set up" by the St. Paul dealer, I realigned and adjusted everything and forgot about the rear wheel. When I pulled of the rear wheel for the first time today, what do I find? Only 3 Cush rubbers....... ??? What the heck happened here? Factory or dealer (who is no longer selling REs) at fault here?

Not much point calling CMW as they will simply refer me to my no longer in existence dealer or our friend Motomataya who is always very helpful, but unfortunately over 2 hours away. Time for another eBay purchase......I find it a bit hard to believe that someone didn't notice a big gaping hole when they slapped in the rear wheel.

Somebody owes you a chunk of rubber, I hope it's not a problem to get a replacement.
On the eighth day God created the C5, and it was better looking than anything on the planet.

It sounds like some dealers think the Pre Delivery Inspection fee is nothing more than a $200+ wax job.

While I wouldn't expect a dealer to remove the rear wheel and inspect the rubber drive cushions the least they could do would be to check the alignment.

You are right on about many dealer(s) - who receive RE with the attitude - Oh, well we will deal with it (issues) IF something comes up later. That means things go unnoticed for weeks and months until the rider takes apart bike. There is no standardised SOP or check list that is given to a RE buyer as a proof what was checked and what was not. On top of that, the association of dealers with RE is so uncertain and short that very few dealers get to know the product really well inside out that they can develop a hunch about what may be wrong. Some lucky RE units and buyers have no issues and they obviously will have good things to say about the product. Basically, buying a RE, owning it, riding it, maintaining it and its experiences are not consistent.

I agree with barenekd. About calling CMW, not his fashion statement.
I bet if you tell them that you purchased a bike with missing equipment, theyll send it to you in a flash.
Wont hurt to ask and might save you 2 hours travel time.

I am sure CMW would have been fine but I ordered a set of 4 from Bulletwala last night.

Hey, I have to be nice to them now and then. I've beaten up on them enough!
